StreetInvest focuses specifically on street-based work with street-connected children and young people. To date they worked with 30 Street Work Partners in 19 countries across Africa, Asia, Central America and the UK helping some 35,000 street children a year. Glad’s House is delighted to be their Regional Coordinating Partner for East Africa. Bokey, lIZ and Vicky are also Global Trainers for StreetInvest.
StreetInvest’s goal is for every street child to have a trustworthy adult in their lives, helping them to fulfil their potential. The Street Workers provide increased protection for the children on the street and improve their life chances. They listen and respond to their hopes and concerns, guide them towards rebuilding family and community links. StreetInvest equips Street Workers to deliver the biggest improvement in the lives of street children.
In 2016, Glad’s House launched a new Programme through a new partnership with Mobile School (Visit Mobile School’s website). Glad’s House are the 43rd Mobile School partner, alongside other projects run across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Street Child United
Glad’s House is honoured to represent Kenya as part of Street Child United’s Global Partner Network.
In March 2014, nine inspirational young men aged 14 – 16 who had previously lived on the streets travelled from Glad’s House, Mombasa to Rio de Janerio, Brazil to represent their country. Team Kenya were one of 26 teams from around the world playing football and advocating for the rights of children on the street. In 2018 Glad’s House will be in Moscow as Team Kenya at the 2018 Street Child World Cup
Consortium for Street Children
Glad’s House is a proud Member of the Consortium for Street Children.
The Consortium for Street Children (CSC) is a global network that exists to give street children a voice, promote their rights and improve their lives. They do this through our focus on Advocacy, Research and Development.
Re~Cycle works in partnership with six organisations across seven different African countries.
Glad’s House has partnered with Re~Cycle since 2009. Since then three – four times a year Re~Cycle send Glad’s House bikes, spare parts and tools that are sold at both Glad’s House Bike Shops. Funds generated in the shop are put back into the organisation to fund programmes.
