Glad’s House UK is now part of Chance for Childhood!

We are delighted to share the news with you that Glad’s House UK is now part of Chance for Childhood!

Earlier this year we took the joint decision that a merger of Glad’s House UK with Chance for Childhood would offer more stability and financial security to the important work being delivered by partner organisation Glad’s House Kenya, in Mombasa.

This is a huge opportunity for our inspirational colleagues at Glad’s House Kenya as they partner with Chance for Childhood. The merger will not only have a positive impact on their operations, but it also gives them a more stable and productive future together with the opportunity to share and gain knowledge with the other African partners who also work to support children and young people.  The vision for Glad’s House Kenya and the children and young people we support does not change with this UK merger but we do get a big step closer to it.

Vicky, our Chief Exec, is delighted to be joining the Team at Chance for Childhood as their Global Safeguarding Lead and will also be supporting Glad’s House Kenya as they build on this new relationship. Cliff, our Chair, is going to stay involved as an Ambassador, therefore, the Ferguson Family will still be very much part of the ongoing exciting journey with Glad’s House Kenya. Glad’s House has always been a family, one that you are part of, and this merger does not change that, it just means the family looks a little different.

Vicky said:

“Glad’s House have long been admirers of the work Chance for Childhood and their partners do to support vulnerable children and young people. When we were considering the option of a merger, Chance for Childhood were very much our first choice and all of us at Glad’s House UK and Glad’s House Kenya are incredibly excited for what this merger means for the children and young people we support.  I am delighted to be joining the team at Chance for Childhood and to be able to focus on what I am truly passionate about – Chance for Childhood have such strong values and commitments to safeguarding and it’s a really exciting opportunity. I am also over the moon for Glad’s House Kenya and cannot wait to see how they grow and develop as with this new relationship with Chance for Childhood.”

On the merger, Chance for Childhood Co-CEO Katie Fowler said:

“It has been a privilege to build a lasting relationship with the Glad House team. We are in awe of the incredible support services that Glad’s House Kenya deliver on the streets of Mombasa and are excited to learn and grow together as we strive for greater lasting impact amongst the communities we work. It’s remarkable how easy collective decision making becomes when all parties have common values and a shared vision. The coming together of our two organisations has been made all the easier by keeping the children and young people we work with in the front of our minds.”

Glad’s House Kenya and our children and young people need your support now more than ever, particularly at this scary time in the world, as we lead the Mombasa County response to Covid-19 for the homeless community.
